Inventor Jerome Case founded the company of CASE in Racine, when he started the construction of threshing machines. Later the business gained recognition globally as the first builder of steam engines for its agricultural use. In time, the company grew to become the world's largest producers of steam engines.
By the year 1912, Case had become established in the construction machine business. The rapidly started to make road building machinery like steam rollers and graders. Case grew their construction equipment business through different acquisitions, starting with the American Tractor Corporation in 1957. Case had expanded their company by the middle part of the 1990s to become the leading maker of medium-sized to light-sized construction machines.
During the year 1999, Case merged with New Holland to become CNH Global. This corporation became responsible for marketing several of the world's leading brands of agricultural and construction machinery.
