What is the Distinction between Cushion Tire and Pneumatic Tire?

One of the most common questions about this type of equipment is knowing the difference between pneumatic tire forklifts and cushion tire forklifts. Each tire type is specially ideal for different requirements.

Pneumatic Tires have air inside of them, similar to vehicle tires. These kinds of tires are ideal for indoor usage but they are most useful in outdoor "yard" applications and on gravel and uneven surfaces.

Cushion tires are designed as a solid industrial tire that is utilized mainly for indoor applications. These tires could be used outdoors on asphalt surfaces only. If you do drive cushion tires outdoors, there is an option to get traction tires on the front of the equipment. These are called the drive tires. The steer tires or the back tires are particularly designed for steering. Traction tires located on the back of the forklift would simply wear out faster. Hence, if you do have to work outside, having traction on the front and the smooth tires on the back will be the safest and most economical way to operate.

What is the distinction between Solid Pneumatic and Air Pneumatic tires?

When trying to know the main difference between the two kinds of tires, it could be somewhat difficult. They both operate in the same outdoor situations like gravel, and asphalt. The main difference between the two kinds of tires is solid pneumatics are made of solid rubber. This means you cannot pop, gouge and puncture them as they are durable. These tires are more costly than air pneumatic tires because they are made up of way more rubber. These types of tires are best suited for places such as lumber yards and scrap yards where there may be plenty of sharp objects and debris on the ground.

The pneumatic tire could be punctured accidentally. You could get flat tires from them when this happens. Before utilizing a forklift with air pneumatic tires, inspect your work area and be sure that the yard is free of sharp metals, nails and scrap debris. In most applications, standard air pneumatic tires work really great.
