Change an LPG Cylinder
There are different types of sources that could power forklifts. They can run from gasoline, liquid propane or LP gas, battery or diesel. LP is a clean burning fuel preferred for various applications. There are several facilities which have large liquid propane supplies on site. This enables forklifts to be refueled anytime they need. In other places, the facility would have spare LP cylinders which could be changed out when the machine should be refueled.
When changing out an LP cylinder, you must truly be careful in order to avoid possible serious injuries. For example: be sure to put on the appropriate safety equipment such as heavy gloves, safety glasses or goggles. Make sure that you turned off the forklift ignition prior to changing out the tank. Next, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is firmly closed. Utilize your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Keep in mind that it will turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never use a metal tool or any type of wrench on these connections. They are meant to be tightened just by using the hand.
